Privacy Policy

Your library and your control

Pastfold reads only the photos and videos you allow through Apple Photos permissions. You can grant Full or Limited Access, change the selection, or revoke access in iPhone Settings. Original media stays in Apple Photos.

Information processed on this iPhone

Pastfold processes photo identifiers, dates, favorites, dimensions, embedded location coordinates, recognized text and detected face positions. It stores local product observations, inferred groups, names and face confirmations you provide, story drafts, corrections and recent activity to support search, discovery and story creation. Face groups are confirmed by you; Pastfold does not send face information to a recognition service. Studio also stores your photo order, framing, captions, timing, export shape and sharing caption with each draft. Audio you choose in Files is copied into Pastfold’s local storage for future editing and export.

No Pastfold account, tracking or photo server

Pastfold has no account system, advertising or tracking. RevenueCat provides purchase verification and aggregate subscription analytics as described below. It does not send your photo library, recognized text, face information or local intelligence to a Pastfold server or third-party AI service.

Pro subscriptions

Apple processes Pro payments. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user identifier, purchase receipts and subscription information, and technical app/device information needed to verify access, prevent purchase fraud and report aggregate subscription performance in the RevenueCat dashboard. Pastfold does not send photos, recognized text, face information, names, location records or imported audio to RevenueCat. Subscription information is retained under Apple and RevenueCat policies; resetting local intelligence does not cancel a subscription. Manage or cancel in your App Store account settings.

Apple services and sharing

Viewing an iCloud-only photo or creating a story can cause Apple Photos to download media using your Apple account. Maps use Apple’s map services and may request map data for the displayed photo area. These Apple services follow their own privacy terms. Your iPhone’s backup settings may include app data. When you choose Share, the destination you select receives the exported story and handles it under its own terms. Saving a story creates a new video in Apple Photos.

Retention and deletion

Local intelligence remains until you remove the app or reset local intelligence in Pastfold Settings. Reset removes local analysis, person groups, corrections, drafts, history and locally imported audio; your original photos and previously saved videos stay in Apple Photos. You can delete saved stories from Apple Photos yourself. Removed or inaccessible library media is excluded from results; library reconciliation removes its analysis and links. Revoking access does not delete your user-created drafts automatically. Temporary rendered story files are removed when the story flow is closed.
